2011 Summer Happenings

It seems like summer is flying by so quickly – yet summer doesn’t really seem like a different season when you work full-time (other than the heat).  We have managed to have a few “get-aways” during the summer months though and here are some highlights.

We spent a weekend in Omaha with my family.  It was too hot to go to the zoo or be outside very long, but it was relaxing.

This is some of the flooding on our way there.DSC_0035 DSC_0042 DSC_0036

We actually stayed in a hotel in Bellevue. I did my last 2 years of college online and graduated from Bellevue University but I had never seen the campus, so we drove through before we went home.  Pretty nice place!DSC_0088

I also had the opportunity to go to Rocky Mountain High this past week with our church BASIC group (high school youth).  It was a great time, nice weather, built relationships, and most of all encountered God for myself and through the students.  Very refreshing!DSC_0227 DSC_0109 DSC_0112 DSC_0142 The female leadersDSC_0156 Dad’s Birthday!DSC_0225

I came home to my first produce of my first garden!  I was sad about a month ago when a rabbit snuck in through my fence and ate all of my beans!  Quite disappointing.. but I still have cucumbers and tomatoes.  And what a lovely and tasty cucumber this first one was! :)
