I know I express my love and passion for music often, but it’s even better when I can use it to bless others. And even better than that is listening to and watching little kids grow in excitement for music.
My nephew Kyler is 3. He has spent the last couple of years in Kindermusik, and it’s so obvious that he loves music too. I love to sing with him and watch music videos with him because he’s totally focused and tuned in. He has a love for playing drums and always has to plunk on the piano.
A few weeks ago he came up to me after church and he had spent the service in Children in Worship. He had a sad look on his face and looked up at me quite disappointed… “I missed the singing in church.” So I told him we could go in my office at church and play the piano and sing some songs. We sang through Jesus Loves the Little Children, Jesus Loves Me, and a couple others.
I was practicing some songs at home the other night and he wanted to join in right away. Even when he doesn’t know the words – I love to hear his sweet little voice singing right along with me. Since I sang my first solo at the age of 4, I hope his love for music continues to grow and I can sing and play many songs with him in the future.
