Here's to 5 Years...

Yes, it’s true. We got married 5 years ago today! In some ways it seems like a long time ago, and in others it seems like yesterday. It always amazes me that you never know how true your promises are going to hold on the day you actually make them – but looking back, God walks with us through so many different situations and these promises take on a whole different meaning!

One of my favorite parts of our wedding day was surprising David by singing a song to him. I may have previously told a “slight” lie that I wouldn’t sing but it was just too tempting, and I wanted to make the day extra special. David was not super impressed because he was completely caught off guard :) - yet it put a personal touch on the day that neither one of us will ever forget!

There are so many things I love about watching this video.  

1. David’s reaction in the beginning, he leans his head back when Pastor Dan hands me the microphone because he then realized I was actually going to sing!
2. He had tears rolling down his cheeks the whole time and I could do nothing about it because I handed my hanky back to my sister so he had to use his sleeves (and obviously had no warning) – poor guy.
3. I occasionally closed my eyes so I could get through the song myself without looking directly at him.
4. The part where it says “And in the deepest valleys, the Lord will see us through...” where we grab each other’s hand a little more tightly. Today that takes on a whole different meaning. These last 5 years have been such a blessing but we’ve definitely been through some hard times/circumstances that it just makes me tear up knowing how that really became true and real!
5. No one knew this was going to happen except for my parents and sisters and the pastors. Such a sweet surprise!  

Thanks David for always standing by my side! I look forward to what God has in store for us today, tomorrow, and always. I love you more and more each day! Happy 5th Anniversary!
